Mid-February, Jacob and I went to show off our demo, along with others from recent game jams at the IGDA play party in the Vision building inside of Dundee’s Makerspace. Once people began entering, they were eager to test out the HOTAS system that we had setup and ready to show off the endless runner we had been developing since the end of the global game jam.
While we still showed off some of our original map, our main focus was getting people to test the endless runner mode. We felt like this mode was better for quick tests and getting a feel for the game while we are still developing the other modes. During the play party the amount of people, and even kids enjoying the game was really heartwarming to see, and made us more excited for the future.
As the play party progressed, we realised how important it was to get our global leaderboard system to work since so many players were interested in beating each other’s scores in the endless mode. For our next event we decided that this would be our priority as our endless mode was becoming much more polished.
